Baked Asparagus

Asparagus is probably one of our favorite veggies! Its crazy to think that just a couple years ago, neither of us have ever even tried asparagus before and now we eat it roughly once a week.

There are many ways to prepare the vegetable, but we really enjoy it this way. This recipe works in the oven but also in a cast iron pan on the stove/fire. Take a peak at the recipe below and give it a try! Now I don’t typically measure, so this is how I throw it together. You can certainly add more or less of something, if you wish!

Cook Time; 30 min

Ingredients;

  • 1lb Package of Asparagus (Average)
  • 1tsp. of Olive Oil
  • 2-3 tbsp. of Butter
  • Pinch of Garlic Salt
  • Pinch of Black Pepper
  • Splash of Soy Sauce
  • Sprinkle of Parmesan (Grated)

Directions:

Take out the asparagus and cut the ends off of your asparagus, if not already done. Add the asparagus to the baking pan, add the oil to the asparagus and add the seasonings. Top with the butter and place the pan in the oven. Start preheating the oven to 400 degrees, while the pan is in the oven. Once the oven is preheated to 400 degrees, stir the Asparagus and put back in the oven for 8 minutes. Once those 8 minutes are up, add the soy sauce and the parmesan cheese. Place pan back in the oven for a final 8 minutes. Remove pan from oven and allow a couple minutes to cool on the stove.

Asparagus ready for the oven
First 8 minutes in, stirred them up, ready for another 8 minutes.
Added the soy sauce and the parmesan.

This recipe can be salty for some people. This would work as well if you skipped the soy sauce and kept the seasonings. We just like how the asparagus soaks up the flavor of the soy sauce. Give this recipe a try and let me know what you think! It pairs really well with chicken or steaks!!

When I do this on the stove top, I usually soak the asparagus for about an hour before I start cooking. I than add the said seasonings and add the butter and asparagus to the cast iron and cook for a few minutes on a medium heat. Flipping them around every couple of minutes. The last few minutes, I add the cheese so it melts some.
