Pan Fried Pork Steaks

I remember a few years back I had randomly purchased some pork steaks to grill at home. They were plain but SO delicious. Ever since that day, my favorite “treat yourself” dinner that I make is Pork Steaks, especially when they local grocery store has them on sale. I have now since found my favorite way to marinate them and cook them. Below I will show you how I make mine.

Ingredients

  • Pork Steaks
  • Soy Sauce
  • Teriyaki Sauce
  • Butter
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Garlic Powder

How Do I Marinate These?

Marinating of the Pork Steaks is super easy. Just like most of my recipes, you don’t have too measure. I typically toss my Pork Steaks into a bowl and season with garlic powder, salt & pepper. Pour some soy sauce and teriyaki sauce over the steaks, tryin to cover both sides. Flipping the steaks around the bowl a few times to coat. Place back in the fridge for 12-24 hours to marinate.

How Do I Cook Pork Steaks?

Remove the marinated steaks from the fridge at least 30 minutes before cooking. Allowing them to get to room temperature allows for better cooking, allows the steaks to get a nice sear. Get your cast iron skillet, piping hot and throw down a tablespoon of butter. Place your steaks in the hot pan, turning the pan down to a medium heat to cook through the steaks, roughly 5-7 minutes on each side. Then turn the heat back up to high and get a sear on the steaks. May be adding more butter as you go.

Got the perfect sear.

Total cook time for these is roughly 20 minutes. They certainly don’t take long and they taste great. The key really is the marinade and the sear. Absolutely delicious!!

You’ll have to watch your local grocery store for these to go on sale. Give them a try and let me know what you think!!

Much Love & Honey,
Megan

Equipment

  • 1 Cast Iron Skillet 12 inch or larger

Ingredients

  • Pork Steaks
  • Soy Sauce Low Sodium
  • Teriyaki Sauce
  • Salt, Pepper & Garlic Powder To Taste
  • 2 tbsp Butter Unsalted

Instructions

  • For best results, marinade your pork steaks 24 hours before cooking. Place steaks into a large bowl, pour soy sauce & teriyaki sauce over the steaks, coating both sides.
  • Season with salt, pepper & garlic powder, to taste. If you are watching your salt intake, maybe skip the salt.
  • Cover and place back in the fridge for 12-24 hours.
  • Remove from the fridge, 30 minutes before cooking. Allowing the steaks to get to room temperature, lets the steaks get a good sear.
  • Heat your cast iron skillet, to pipping hot. Melt a tablespoon of butter in the pan and throw your pork steaks down. Cooking on each side for 5-7 minutes, sometimes more until just about fully cooked.
  • Turn up heat to a high heat, melting another tablespoon of butter in the pan and searing both sides of the steaks. Sometimes you have to flip them around a couple of times.
  • Remove from heat and let rest a couple minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use low sodium sauces and unsalted butter if you are watching your sodium intake.
